MG Strike Freedom Full Burst Mode (Gao Gao)

Manufacturer: TT Hongli (高高模型)

Scale: 1/100

Grade: MG

Origin: Gundam SEED Destiny

Price: RM100 (this is the price I paid for...)

Quick Review

Inner Frame
  • Plastic quality is nice.
  • Snap-fit is done nicely.
  • 3 tones of gold... plastic golden-yellow, shiny plastic gold (for Dragoon frame), and chrome parts for joints. Quite similar to the Bandai version, and I spray-painted the golden-yellow with my normal gold spray can for a nicer finish although no one is going to see the inner frame when done :p

Chrome Parts
  • The chrome parts are decent at best.
  • The snap-fit some time give problem as the notch is actually gotten thicker due to the chrome process and cannot snap in... need to scratch off the chrome layer of the "male" in order to snap into the "female".

Joints/Articulation
  • Joints are firm.
  • Articulation is fantastic as you can see from the photos :)

Exterior Armour
  • Overall, the quality is above average ;)
  • Plastic quality is only decent.
  • Colour is a bit dull due to the plastic quality...
  • Little uneven at Abs armour... could be my kit tho as this was the only noticeable flaw...
  • Little missed alignment in shoulder inner parts.
  • Need to manually cut/drill the 2 latches at the back of the hip.

Wing/Dragoon
  • Some issue with the wing mechanic as it couldn't be spread wide as per the photo... I do not have the original Bandai kit therefore have no idea where gone wrong with Hongli... I did the spreading manually and it looks just fine :p
  • The Dragoon and the FBM accessories are in good quality :) the only difference is that I need to soak the transparent rod with hot water to soften it before bending :p No big deal about this ;)

Decals
  • All are dry decals.
  • Quality of the decals are so so...
  • The decals instructions are COMPLETELY WRONG!!!!!

Buying Recommendation
  • RM100 vs RM240... if you are in a budget constrain, this is a good choice.
  • If you are looking forward to painting and modding, do get this :)
  • If you are only assembly and not any painting, get the Bandai version.
  • If you have money, get the BANDAI!

Inner Frame and Articulation

Rider Kick! The inner frame and articulation is excellent!

Main MS without the Dragoon System

The MS completed with panel lining :) Aside from the think helmet that need some trimming later, this is a handsome kit ;)

Dragoon System ;)

At first, the dragoon system could not swing up to open as shown in the picture... I know from a modeler that I need to remove some assessive plastics, but I do not have the Bandai version for reference so I have no idea where and what to do... finally, I just did the posing manually before I connect the 2 wings... well, I'm ok with this since I am not going to move the wing a lot :p

Full Burst Mode!!!

Completed with decals. Nice effect accessories ;) You need a lot of space to display this tho :p

    1. DO YOU KNOW THAT CHRISTIANITY IS CORRECT? THE WORLD AROUND US REVEALS THAT GOD DOES EXIST, AND THE HISTORICAL EVIDENCE REVEALS THAT JESUS CHRIST REALLY DID COME TO THIS EARTH AND THERE IS OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE THAT HE PHYSCALLY ROSE FROM THE DEAD.
JESUS IS COMING AGAIN AND THE SIGNS OF THE END TIMES THAT WERE FORETOLD IN THE BIBLE ARE COMMING TO PASS, AND THAT ISLAM IS THE ANTICHRIST SYSTEM!

  2. nice assembly bro !
but seriously is there any different between Bandai and GaoGao?
    I'm a beginner gunpla collector,

judging from your picture, i dont see any difference with yours and Bandai

  3. From picture, it is very hard to spot the different :p

As mentioned in my review, there are minor flaw with TT/GG such as the head is a bit miss-aligned, the wing mechanic need a bit of touching up due to excessive plastic, the male connector of the chrome parts need little work.

If you have experience with Bandai MG, the flaw is minor and you would have no problem dealing with it, but if you are new to MG, better stick with Bandai for now, if you have extra cash :p

You are welcome to ask away should you have any question ;) and do check out the following link if you are interest to TT/GG :)

  4. haha, i bought my gundams from Takumikun as well,
that's how i found your blog btw =D,
    i'm a lyn member too =D,

i'm planning on investing on the next GaoGao list is Unicorn Titanium and Destiny Extreme Blast Mode,

and i'm still a quite a beginner on gundams, even if i've got a few of MG gundams,
just afraid of having some flaws and not knowing what to do,
comparing with people who already in higher level on doing dioramas, i'm still just building as an assembly only...lol

  5. Forget Unicorn, I think TT/GG is based on Bandai's ver. KA which is not that great for Bandai itself... go for Destiny EBM instead ;)

  6. I've been fixing MG all along from my first model till now(although i only have a few gundam collections, lol)
other den MGs, i really don't know what else could go wrong with the models =S...

so lets say i don't have enough cash,
and i'm really a beginner(even if all this while i've only assembled MGs gundams),
and i'm still not going to repaint my GaoGao gundams,
is it still ok to buy TT/GaoGao gundams?

haha, the unicorn i'm only getting it for the sake of my collection on showing sinanju having a battle with unicorn

  7. TT/GG is still alright for straight-build ;) just look at my Strike Freedom FBM :)

The reason I do not recommend Unicorn yet is because TT/GG Unicorn is based on Bandai ver. KA (I think... better confirm with the seller) that is not the Anime version of Unicorn (the very indicative difference is the vulcan gun on the head... ver KA does not have them), and some parts easily fall off for the Bandai version so not to mention TT/GG :p

Maybe should wait a little longer and see if there is any new version release by TT/GG ;)

  8. haha, true,
i'm lacking of skills on building gundams still =(
    guess TT/GG isn't my stuff yet =(,
and now i'm currently selling my TT/GG infinite justice for halfprice of what i've gotten,
hopefully there's people wanting it =(

  12. This is a cool gundam model. Actually this is my second MG gundam the problem I encountered is the wings. It's too heavy and it can't hold its position specially when the model is displayed below 90 degrees. And it doesn’t include the wings of light. Need to buy it separately

May I know what paint you used? And if you did not, any suggestions on the paint needed? Thanks!

  15. Would you recommend painting the inner frame of a Bandai MG strike freedom? If yes, could I use a gundam paint marker for it and should I wash it with soapy water first? Thanks
