MG MSZ-006C1 Zeta Plus C1 (Bandai)

I have started this project from 2011 and only now I'm doing the review :P

This kit was recently reissued by Bandai and I observed that many are going for this, and the Zeta Plus A1, due to it low price but complaining the kit is not living up to their expectation... I means, this kit is based on Zeta version 1.0 and was manufactured in year 2002 so you guys should know what to expect ;)

Manufacturer: Bandai
Scale: 1/100
Grade: MG

Origin: Gundam Sentinel (Side Story)
Price: 3000 Yen

Part 1: Runners

This is supposed to be a mass produced MS therefore it is in gray color mostly ;) The parts separation is pretty good except the leg, as the seam lines are pretty obvious here...

Part 2: Decals & Extras

This kit comes standard with a dry-transfer and a dry-sticker. The quality is good as usual ;)

Part 3: The Mega Particle Cannon

Well, this is the signature of Zeta Plus C1 so I started with this instead ;) This cannon is similar to the one used by S Gundam/Ex-S Gundam and it is massive!

Part 4: The Legs

Since this is a transformable kit, I am not going to do my usual Skeleton build separately ;)

The articulation for the hip is pretty ordinary with ball joints. The knee is excellent as you can see, and the ankle is pretty fine too. Parts separations are nice except the leg where the seam lines are pretty obvious :(

Part 5: The Arms

Pretty straight-forward with excellent articulations.

Part 6: Wings

Another signature of this MS :) Pretty solid wings here ;)

Part 7: Thrusters & Stabilizer

Pretty nicely done ;)

Part 8: Head

The parts separation is excellent in my opinion ;)

Part 9: Chest & Waist

Another nicely done section on the chest... pretty solid and nicely detailed ;) As for the waist, it is not moveable at all due to the transformation mechanism.

Part 10: MS Form

Well, many complained about the bad pose-ability of this kit, so see and judge for yourself instead.

Plain Standing Pose

The backpack (Thrusters, Wings & Stabilizer) is pretty heavy, so yeah, you need to find the balance point if you want to post standing but issue would resolve itself when the Mega Particle Cannon is equipped.

Pose with Action Stand 01

A small disappointment is that this kit, like the Zeta 1.0, does not come with Action Base connector so it is a bit challenging to pose like the Zeta 2.0... Nevertheless, pretty nice pose I can do here, don't you think?

Pose on Action Stand 01 with Mega Particle Cannon

Despite limited articulation on the neck and no movement on the waist ;)

More Pose with Mega Particle Cannon, Standing and Kneeling

Who said cannot?

Part 11: Waverider Form

Comparison to a 50 Cents Coin ;)

The Waverider ;)

Very nice :) I like this very much!

I took some time to get a hold of the transformation mechanism but once you get a hang of it, the transformation is actually pretty easy... to make it easier, detach the arms first (for straight-builders)!

There are some smaller parts involved in the transformation do please don't do it the Jedi way! (don't use the force, if you didn't get it :P)!

Quick Review

Plastic Quality and Detailing

This is Bandai, so things are excellent ;)

Articulations

Articulations are above average, in overall...
  • Head/Neck: Normal-
  • Shoulder: Very good ;)
  • Arm/Elbow: Excellent!
  • Wrist: Normal.
  • Hand: Normal.
  • Waist: None.
  • Skirt Armour: No front skirt, but the back and side is pretty nice so, Good.
  • Hip/Tight: Normal (ball joints).
  • Knee: Excellent!
  • Ankle: Normal+

Looks and Feels

Very nice variant of Zeta and I love it ;) The transformation looks complicated but it is actually pretty straight forward with some patience ;) and by the way, the Waverider looks fantastic!

For the price of 3000 Yen, I highly recommend this kit to all.

Fin ;)
