Hi folks :) I've been busy with work... in fact, I have done this a month ago but only now have some spare time to upload and do the review :P
Here you go, Daban HGUC Stark Jegan!
Manufacturer: Daban
Scale: 1/144
Grade: HG
Origin: Gundam Unicorn UC0096
Price: RM30 excluding postage (Contact me at DuelMasterNG@yahoo.com for availability)
Please take note that I did minor coloring and panel lining ;)
Section 1: Runners
Detailing are as good as the original! I actually could not find any flaw with detailing but maybe I just don't have a Bandai Stark Jegan to compare :P I'll give this a 95%.
The plastics quality is pretty good, although they are a little glossier compare to the original ;)
Section 2: Decals
The decals are so so... quality is nice but the cutting is a bit off so you might need to do some trimming should you decide to use them...
Section 3: Legs
Good detailing :) There is no snap-fitting issue except the thigh armor is a little loose... do consider to glue them ;)
Articulations are not fantastic as you could see that it is using ball-joint at the hip/tight and can only do about 90 degree at the knee.
The additional armor/thrusters can be easily attached and detached with no hindrance to the articulations.
Section 4: Waist Unit
A nicely done section that snap-fitted perfectly ;) I did some minor coloring and panel lining here.
Section 5: Chest Unit
As you can see, nicely done too ;) A little panel lining at the side of the chest unit goes a long way :)
Section 6: Arms & Shoulders
Unlike Geara Zulu, Stark Jegan's left and right arms/shoulders are identical :)
Just a small note, you might need to apply a little more force when pushing in the hands into the wrist polycaps as they are a bit tight. The entire wrist peg should go into the polycap and not half dangling ;)
Coming to articulations, the usual HG articulations applies. As for the additional armors on the shoulders and forearms, they could be attached/detached with ease too.
Section 7: Head Unit
Although I heard from some fellow modeller that the head does not fit properly but this copy of mine snap-fitted nicely :P
Section 8: Jegan, without the Additional Armor and Armament ;)
Pretty neat. Can assemble as Normal Jegan without any issue ;)
Section 9: Additional Armor
Leg Armors and Thrusters
Forearm Armor and Missile Pods
Shoulder Armor and Missile Pod Holders
Section 10: Backpack Unit
Section 11: Weaponry
3-Tubes Missile Pods
Hyper Bazooka
The bazooka comes with a peg at the right side of the handle much like the beam rifle, with the intention of a firm grip when fix to the right hand. Frankly, this is not necessary with the fix hand of HG thus I would recommend to cut off the peg entirely so that the bazooka could be held by the left hand as well ;)
Don't to that for the beam rifle tho, as you do not have the triggering left hand :P
Beam Rifle
Hyper Bazooka, Beam Rifle & Beam Saber
Section 12: Stark Jegan, In Action
Section 13: Side-by-side with Geara Zulu
Quick Review
Plastic Quality and Detailing
Detailing are as good as the original! I actually could not find any flaw with detailing but maybe I just don't have a Bandai Stark Jegan to compare :P I'll give this a 95%.
The plastics quality is pretty good, although they are a little glossier compare to the original ;)
Articulations
Articulations are good, but nowhere near fantastic...
- Head/Neck: Good.
- Shoulder: Very good, with pull-out mechanism ;)
- Arm/Elbow: Normal, @ 90 degree bending.
- Wrist: Normal, with ordinary wrist movement.
- Hand: Normal, with HG fixed hands.
- Waist: Good.
- Skirt Armour: Good!
- Hip/Tight: Good!
- Knee: Normal.
- Ankle: Good.
Looks and Feels
The detailing are nicely done with almost no lost of any detailing. As you can see from the pictures, this is as good as the original :)
This is a very viable replacement for the original and a good option for kit-bashing. However, if you can afford, do buy original ;)
Fin :)
