MG XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe EW Comparison
Hi guys :) I'm pretty some of you are looking forward to this comparison so here it is, my comparison between Dragon Momoko and TT Hongli version of MG Deathscythe EW.
Part 1: Head
Left: Dragon, Right: Hongli
Dragon and Hongli has done a good job replicating the head ;)
Small Detailing: Dragon > Hongli
V-Fin: Hongli > Dragon
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Sticker (eyes and sensors): Dragon > Hongli
Snapfit: Dragon = Hongli
Overall: Draw ;)
Part 2: Chest
Left: Dragon, Right: Hongli
You might not be able to see it from the heads, but it is pretty clear that Dragon is having a flat finishing whereas Hongli is having a Semi-Gloss finishing.
Inner frame: Hongli > Dragon
Finishing: Dragon > Hongli
Small Detailing: Dragon > Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Snapfit: Dragon > Hongli
Dragon's finishing is better then Hongli, and the parts are thinner/finer in comparison. However, I figured if they are using the same raw material, Dragon is sacrificing toughness for better detailing.
Overall: Dragon!
Part 3: Arms
Left: Dragon, Right: Hongli
Dragon is a bit screwed for the arms... the snapfitting is a bit out of place on the forearm.
Inner frame: Hongli > Dragon
Finishing: Dragon = Hongli
Small Detailing: Dragon = Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Joint Holding Power: Hongli = Dragon
Snapfit: Hongli > Dragon
Overall: Hongli!
Part 4: Backpack
Left: Dragon, Right: Hongli
Both Dragon and Hongli is doing equally well in this department ;)
Finishing: Dragon = Hongli
Small Detailing: Dragon > Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Snapfit: Hongli = Dragon
Overall: Draw!
Part 5: Waist
Left: Dragon, Right: Hongli
Both are also doing well in this department... just that Dragon's seems a bit loose on the crotch armor.
Inner frame: Hongli = Dragon
Finishing: Dragon = Hongli
Small Detailing: Dragon = Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Snapfit: Hongli > Dragon
Overall: Hongli!
Part 6: Legs
Left: Dragon, Right: Hongli
Both are also doing well for the legs. However, the Dragon's hip joints seems fragile as compared to Hongli, and Dragon's ankle is quite loose too...
Inner frame: Hongli = Dragon
Finishing: Dragon > Hongli
Small Detailing: Dragon > Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Joints Holding Power: Hongli > Dragon
Snapfit: Hongli > Dragon
Overall: Hongli!
Part 7: Beam Scythe
Top: Dragon, Bottom: Hongli
Nothing to mention on the bean scythe ;)
Small Detailing: Dragon > Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Snapfit: Hongli = Dragon
Overall: Draw
Part 8: Shield
Top: Hongli, Bottom: Dragon
The claw parts for Hongli seems a bit loose...
Finishing: Dragon > Hongli
Small Detailing: Dragon = Hongli
Toughness (plastics): Hongli > Dragon
Snapfit: Hongli > Dragon
Overall: Draw
Part 9: Decals
I think I have said enough for the decals in my review for Dragon's Deathscythe EW...
Overall: HONGLI
Part 10: Overall
Head: Draw
Chest: Dragon
Arms: Hongli
Backpack: Draw
Waist: Hongli
Legs: Hongli
Beam Scythe: Draw
Shield: Draw
Decals: Hongli
This is entirely my own opinion and is only to act as a reference for those of you who wanted to have some reference before buying. Before closing this blog, I would like to offer a simple guideline for your selection between Dragon and Hongli...
If you prefer better finishing and detailing, go for Dragon Momoko's version; if you prefer toughness, go for TT Hongli's version ;)
Fin ;)
nice post here :D
ReplyDeletefor the comparison, think it might be better if u circle the parts in question.
e.g. the chest part, the yellow fin can be circled to show the difference in details i.e. sharpness of finishing.
just my opinion yo :D
:) Thanks for the suggestion
ReplyDeletevery nice post =D....
ReplyDeleteunfortunately ... it's a bit too late for me ... because i've just bought MG 1/100 deathscythe hell dragon momoko ...
and ... just like your review ... the hip - leg joint is a total mess ... it can't even stand ... everytime i want to pose it ... the leg just keep falling off from the hip
need to do a lot work just to make it stand properly ...
