MG XXXG-01W Wing Gundam ver EW (Gao Gao)

Presenting the newest addition to Gao Gao line of Master Grade, MG 030 Wing Gundam ver. EW ;) Just for what it worth, this is my 5th build of MG Wing Gundam inclusive of Wing Zero Custom :P

Manufacturer: Gao Gao/TT Hongli
Scale: 1/100
Grade: MG
Origin: Gundam W
Price: RM75 (Limited time promotion @ RM65 per unit. Those who are interested can contact me)

Please take note that I did minor coloring and panel lining with gold, silver & metallic marker so please do not expect that to be pre-colored on your kit ;)

Section 1: Runners

Detailing are very good! I would say it is up to 99% as good compare to the original. The plastics quality is very good too!

Section 2: Decals

This kit comes with 1 set of dry-sticker (yellow background below), 1 set of dry-transfer (white background below), and the usual foil stickers for the mono-eye. The quality of the dry-stickers are very much better compare to the older days, and the dry-transfer is of very good quality :)

Section 3: Weaponry

Well, except the beam saber, all are as below :P

Buster Rifle

Buster Rifle Energy Capsule

Shield

Section 4: Skeleton Build

The Legs

Articulations are pretty good, except the hip is using ball joint that only permits limited movement ;)

The Waist

Pretty straight-forward ;)

The Chest

The pull-out mechanism would allow the shoulder joints to be pulled out for more dynamic posing. The abdomen can also be tilted forward at some minor degree for posing ;)

The Arms

Excellent articulations for the arms! Just that the forearms does not have inner-frame...

The Head

Very good parts separation and detailing. I colored the eyes and sencors instead of using the foil stickers ;)

The Naked Wing :P

Section 5: The Legs

Very solid legs here ;) Not much hinderence to the articulations even with the outer armor.

Section 6: Waist

Pretty straight-forward build, but with very good parts separations ;)

Section 7: Chest

Pretty straight-forward build too :) The abdomen can bend in small degree as it is using 2-way ball joints ;)

Section 8: Arms

Fantastic arms! No hindrance of movement when fully armored :) The only disappointment is the hand (by design of Bandai) still cannot hold the Beam Rifle properly...

Section 9: Semi-Completed Mecha

Purposely leaving the right arm and left leg naked for photo ops :P

Section 10: The Wing

Fantastic backpack! Very colorful and can be posed in various angles ;)

Section 11: Gundam Mode ;)

Photo ops after applying some decals ;)

Flying Pose without Weaponry

The Standard Bandai Shoot-Right Pose :P

Another Shooting Pose ;)

Posing with Wing Zero Custom ;)

Section 12: Transformation

Photo ops after applying some decals ;)

Before Transformation

Arm Transformation

Turn the arms forward and pull the shoulder armor out to each side respectively.

Pull down the shoulder armor.

Leg Transformation

Before transformation.

Point the tip of the feet downward.

Flip the Gundam.

Bend the leg backward by the upper knee joint.

Pull down the knee armor.

Bend the knee forward by the lower knee joint.

Repeat for the other leg ;)

Wing Transformation

Pull the Wing backpack and lock it to the back of the waist.

Shield/Rifle Transformation

Lock the Buster Rifle to the shield.

Lock the Shield to the backpack latch.

Cover the head ;)

Section 13: Bird Mode

Stationery @ Hangar Base

Flying Pose :P

Photo from Below :P

Bird and Angel ;)

Quick Review

Plastic Quality and Detailing

The plastic quality is better than the usual Gao Gao/TT Hongli quality. The detailing are very nicely done and it comes close to 99% of the original.

For what it worth, there are times when I am assembling this kit, I felt that I am handling a Bandai kit rather then bootleg, that's how good this kit is ;)

Articulations

Articulations are very good!
  • Head/Neck: Very good! The head can be tilted upward for flying pose ;)
  • Shoulder: Excellent! Althought the WIng backpack and the shoulder armor might hinder the movement, it is not the fault of the shoulder :P
  • Arm/Elbow: Excellent!
  • Wrist: Normal.
  • Hand: Normal. The disappointment is the hand still cannot hold the Buster Rifle even Bandai re-make this kit from the ver. KA.
  • Waist: Normal+.
  • Skirt Armour: Normal+.
  • Hip/Tight: Normal+, due to its ball-joint...
  • Knee: Excellent!
  • Ankle: Normal.
  • Feet: Good.

Looks and Feels

The detailing is pretty good and come close to 99% of the original!!! The snap-fit is also very nicely done! As I've mentioned somewhere up there, this kit actually gave me the feeling of assembling an original Bandai kit :P

The disappointment is still lies in the hand... eventhough Bandai re-make this from the ver. KA, they still does not fix the hand issue!

Overall, this kit is excellent and would be a fantastic replacement for the original! Buckle up, Bandai, or else bootleg will take over!

Still, for those of you who can afford, do buy original ;)

Fin :)

    3. Nothing wrong on the decal instruction. Anyway, decal is where you can personalise your kit, so don't follow the instruction exactly ;)
